Observation of International Arabic Language Day was held on 18 December 2015 in the Seminar hall of University College, Thiruvananthapuram. Principal Dr. M. K. Thankamany inaugurated the programme. Vol 7 of Majalla al-Aasima, annual research journal, published by the department was released by Dr. A. Nizaruddin, Former Head, Department of Arabic, University of Kerala, by giving a copy to Mylappur Shawqatali Moulavi, veteran Arabic scholar. Principal honours Dr. A. Nizaruddin, recipient of the Certificate of Honour (2015) from the President of India for his service to Arabic Language, and Mylappur Shawqatali Moulavi, for his outstanding services as a poet, translator, editor, teacher.
