CALL FOR PAPERS


Dear Sir / Madam,

The Department of Arabic, University College, Thiruvananthapuram is the first higher education centre in the State of Kerala for teaching Arabic language and literature in government sector. The history of the Department starts in 1942. The Department of Arabic proposes to celebrate its 75th anniversary with an yearlong programmes in 2017. The celebrations programmes will be inaugurated on March 1, 2017.

The department of Arabic organises a 3 Day National Seminar on 01-03 March, 2017, as the first programme of the 75th anniversary celebrations at University College on the broad area of “Kerala & Arabic Language: Science, Arts, Culture & Literature”


The suggested thematic areas are:

  • Evolution of Arabic Language in Kerala

  • Muslim Arts & Culture with Arabic background

  • Kerala Arabic Manuscripts, Oral Tradition & Folklore Literature

  • Kerala Scientific Literature in Arabic: Jurisprudence, Medicine, Astronomy, History etc

  • Cultural Heritage of Arabic in Kerala

  • Arab Families, Arab Trade relations in Malabar

  • Anti-Colonial literature in Arabic

  • Arabi-Malayalam Language & Literature

  • Arabic Literature in Kerala: Poetry & Prose

  • Kerala Islamic Literature in Arabic language

  • Arabic Education in Kerala: Public Education, Madrasa System etc

  • Higher Education Scenario & Arabic Language

  • Malayalam-Arabic Literary Translation

  • Arabic Journalism in Kerala

  • Role of Organizations & Personalities in Arabic Education

 

Papers can be presented in Arabic, English or Malayalam. Those who are interested to present papers related to the thematic areas are requested to send the abstract of their papers in one page by email on or before 31 January 2017. Papers are to be precise and conforming to the thrust area noted. All submissions must be original and proper acknowledgement of sources borrowed should be made.
