On the Occasion of the UN Day of Arabic Language, The Department of Arabic, University College, Thiruvananthapuram, organized a National Seminar on Contemporary Arab Theatre on 18 December, 2014, as a starting point for a serious intercultural examination of the pan-Arab theatre and theatre forms present in the Arab nations stretching from Algeria to Yemen. Dr. George Onakkoor, famous Malayalam writer, inaugurated the seminar and released the sixth volume of “Majalla al-Aasima”, the annual refereed research journal published by the Department of Arabic. After the inaugural session, the students of Department of Arabic staged the Arabic play “al-Kanz” (The Treasure) of Tawfiq al-Hakim (Egypt). Seven papers were presented in the seminar:
